Dunster Castle

Just a short 5 minutes drive from Butlins Holiday Resort.

Stunningly sited on top of a wooded hill, the castle dates back to Norman times. Originally made from timer by the de Mohuns , the castle was sold in 1376 to the Luttrell family who were largely responsible for what we now see today. They built the gatehouse in 1420, created a Jacobean mansion in 1617, defended and saved the castle during the English Civil War and updated the castle in the Victorian era.

The castle offers fantastic views across Exmoor and The Bristol Channel.
